PH Embassy Showcases PH Agricultural Products, Farming Solutions at AgriteQ 2025
DOHA 16 February 2025 — The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Doha successfully participated in the 12th Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition, or AgriteQ, on 04-08 February 2025 at the Katara Cultural Village.
Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar, His Excellency Mardomel Celo D. Melicor, along with Consul General and First Secretary Cassandra B. Sawadjaan, led the opening of the Philippine booth.
The booth featured premium agricultural products, innovative farming solutions, and top travel destinations, providing visitors a glimpse of the rich trade and tourism opportunities in the Philippines.
Through its participation in AgriteQ, the Embassy aims to strengthen bilateral trade, promote investment opportunities, and enhance economic cooperation between the Philippines and Qatar.

Gilas Pilipinas Grab Clutch Win Over Host Qatar in Nail-Biter
DOHA 15 February 2025 — The Philippine men's national basketball team Gilas Pilipinas pulled off a scintillating win over Qatar, 74-71, in a nail-biting match on the first day of the 2nd Doha International Cup.
Playing before a packed venue at Qatar University on 14 February 2025, the Gilas players displayed a mastery of the art of closing out the game in style, stunning the host country.
Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar, His Excellency Mardomel Celo D. Melicor, joined thousands of Filipinos in cheering for the Philippine team.
He also personally conveyed his congratulations to the players and coaching staff for coming through in the clutch.
The Gilas are set to face the national teams of Lebanon and Egypt on 15 and 16 February 2025, respectively.
The Doha friendlies form part of the team’s preparations in the run-up to the qualifiers for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup and the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

PH Ambassador Pays Courtesy Call on Director of International Organizations at Qatar MOFA
DOHA 13 February 2025 — Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar, His Excellency Mardomel Celo D. Melicor, paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency Sheikha Hanouf Abdulrahman Al Thani, Director of the Department of International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, on 12 February 2025.
The two officials exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, including ways to enhance cooperation between the Philippines and Qatar in multilateral spaces.

PH Embassy Participates in 71st ASEAN Committee in Doha (ACD) Head of Missions Meeting
DOHA 10 February 2025 — Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar, His Excellency Mardomel Celo D. Melicor, attended the 71st ASEAN Committee in Doha (ACD) Heads of Missions Meeting on 6 February 2025.
The meeting, led by Ms. Sumaya Baqavi, Chargé d'Affaires of Singapore and Chair of the ACD, began by welcoming Ambassador Melicor and His Excellency Faizal Razali, Ambassador of Malaysia, to their first ACD meeting.
In his remarks, Ambassador Melicor thanked the ACD for its warm welcome and shared his commitment to continue the work of his predecessor in strengthening the work of the ACD.
The meeting involved discussion on the activities conducted by the ACD from March 2024 to February 2025 and the handover ceremony of the Chairmanship of the ACD from the Embassy of Singapore to the Royal Thai Embassy.
The meeting adjourned and was followed by a luncheon hosted by His Excellency Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand.
The ACD is composed of the Embassies of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
