DOHA 10 February 2025 — Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar, His Excellency Mardomel Celo D. Melicor, attended the 71st ASEAN Committee in Doha (ACD) Heads of Missions Meeting on 6 February 2025.
The meeting, led by Ms. Sumaya Baqavi, Chargé d'Affaires of Singapore and Chair of the ACD, began by welcoming Ambassador Melicor and His Excellency Faizal Razali, Ambassador of Malaysia, to their first ACD meeting.
In his remarks, Ambassador Melicor thanked the ACD for its warm welcome and shared his commitment to continue the work of his predecessor in strengthening the work of the ACD.
The meeting involved discussion on the activities conducted by the ACD from March 2024 to February 2025 and the handover ceremony of the Chairmanship of the ACD from the Embassy of Singapore to the Royal Thai Embassy.
The meeting adjourned and was followed by a luncheon hosted by His Excellency Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand.
The ACD is composed of the Embassies of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam.

DOHA 09 February 2025 — Senator Pia Cayetano met with members of the Filipino community in a town hall meeting during her visit to Qatar on 07 February 2025.
The Senator noted her support for sports-related initiatives. She also committed to look into the concerns and recommendations raised by the attendees for inclusion in the country’s legislative agenda and related sports programs.

DOHA 05 February 2025 — Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar, His Excellency Mardomel Celo D. Melicor, called on his counterparts from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) accredited to the State of Qatar from 20 January to 5 February 2025.
Ambassador Melicor met His Excellency Haji Mohamed Bahrin Abu Bakar, Ambassador of Brunei; His Excellency Ridwan Hassan, Ambassador of Indonesia; His Excellency Mohammad Faizal Razali, Ambassador of Malaysia; His Excellency Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of Thailand; and Ms. Sumaya Baqavi, Chargé d'Affaires of Singapore.
During their meetings, Ambassador Melicor discussed overall bilateral relations between the countries and affirmed the Philippines' commitment to continue supporting the programs and projects of the ASEAN Committee in Doha (ACD).

DOHA 27 January 2025 — Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar, His Excellency Mardomel Celo D. Melicor, presented his Letter of Credence to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, in a reception ceremony held at the Amiri Diwan on 27 January 2025.
The presentation of credentials marked the formal commencement of Ambassador Melicor’s tenure as the head of the Philippine diplomatic mission in Doha.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Melicor conveyed the warm greetings of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and the Filipino people to His Highness the Amir and the friendly people of the State of Qatar.
He also affirmed his commitment to enhancing the robust diplomatic relations between the two countries through the conclusion and implementation of mutually beneficial programs and agreements.
The ceremony began with a procession from the Ambassador’s residence to Amiri Diwan, where he was received by the Commander of the Guard of Honor.
This was followed by the inspection ceremony at the inner yard of the Amiri Diwan where the Army Musical Band played “Lupang Hinirang” and “as-Salam al-Amiri,” the respective national anthems of the Philippines and Qatar.
Ambassador Melicor was accompanied by his spouse, Mme Villaray Hope Noro Melicor.
The day prior, Ambassador Melicor provided a copy of his credentials to the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al Muraikhi.
