DOHA 15 May 2024 — Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual of the Department of Trade and Industry paid a courtesy call on Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry of the State of Qatar, on the sidelines of the 4th Qatar Economic Forum on 14 May 2024.
The two officials exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, including ways to enhance bilateral economic cooperation.
Now on its fourth iteration, the Qatar Economic Forum serves as a platform for government officials, business leaders, and policy innovators from Qatar and other parts of the world to discuss opportunities and challenges in the global economic landscape.
Secretary Pascual is scheduled to speak during the event at a panel on competitive economies on 15 May 2024.

DOHA 11 May 2024 — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Ceferino S. Rodolfo and Director General Rowel S. Barba of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL) met with officials of Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) on 02 May 2024.
Officials from both sides discussed potential areas for cooperation, including investment opportunities in the Philippines.

DOHA 08 May 2024 — Director General Rowel S. Barba of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL) paid a courtesy call on Director Amna Jaber Al Kawari of the Intellectual Property Rights Protection (IPRP) Department at Qatar’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) on 02 May 2024.

07 May 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Doha through its Sentro Rizal, participated in the National Commission for Culture and the Arts’ three-day virtual masterclass on Philippine Folk Dance, conducted by the internationally-acclaimed Bayanihan National Folk Dance Company.
Held on 16, 23 and 30 April 2024, the virtual masterclass provided an opportunity to representatives of Filipino cultural groups in Qatar to learn the techniques on staging Filipino folk dance.
Folk dance enthusiasts from Philippine embassies in Brunei Darussalam, India, and Oman also participated in the masterclass, learning Pandanggo, Kini-Kini, Kappamalong-malong, Paseo de Iloilo, and Bagobo.
In her opening remarks, Ambassador Lillibeth V. Pono commended the NCCA’s Sentro Rizal for their program and encouraged the participants to “learn how folk dance becomes a cultural expression and an instrument to promote the Philippines.”
In the culminating activity on 30 April 2024, the Doha-based Filipino participants performed the Kini-kini and Kappamalong-malong at the chancery’s Sentro Rizal.
