DOHA 26 April 2023 – Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar H.E. Lillibeth V. Pono spearheaded the Philippine Embassy’s provision of administrative and logistical support to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and Migrant Workers Office (MWO) for the successful conduct of the Special Professional Licensure Examinations (SPLE) on 22-24 April 2023.
Held at the Philippine International School-Qatar (PISQ) in Doha, this year’s SPLE featured at least 20 licensure examinations across various disciplines and drew in a total of 637 Filipino examinees residing and/or working in Qatar.
In her inspection of the SPLE venue on 22 April 2023, Ambassador Pono noted the generally peaceful proceedings and commended the concerned officials and volunteers for their efforts in ensuring the success of the SPLE.
Pursuant to Executive Order No. 835, series of 2009, the SPLE is held annually to give unlicensed OFWs the opportunity to take the licensure board examinations while residing and working in the Middle East region without the need of returning to the Philippines.
Prior to 2023, the latest SPLE was held in 2019. Subsequent editions in 2020, 2021, and 2022 were suspended on account of the restrictions in mobility put in place to curb the spread of COVID-19.

DOHA 15 April 2023 – The Philippine Embassy in the State of Qatar and the Bureau of the Treasury co-organized an online financial literacy session on 14 April 2023 to discuss the Philippine Government’s upcoming Retail Dollar Bonds 2 (RDB2) offering.
In her opening remarks, Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar H.E. Lillibeth V. Pono noted the unique features of the sovereign-backed securities.
“The retail treasury bonds that we avail of – whether in peso or dollar denominations – represent the money that we lend to the Philippine Government. That money is then used for the construction of projects and implementation of programs that ultimately redound to the benefit of our fellow Filipinos,” she said.
She added that retail treasury bonds, such as the upcoming RDB2, should be a welcome addition to the investment portfolio of Overseas Filipino Workers looking to make their hard-earned money grow while contributing to nation-building.
Set to be launched in the second quarter of 2023, RDB2 comes with a minimum placement of USD 200, and may be purchased through authorized selling bank agents, the online ordering facility of the Bureau of the Treasury, and other app-based channels.

Yulo’s achievements have catapulted him to international fame, and have given occasion to the further development of the grassroots program for gymnastics in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, the Philippine men’s national football team, the Azkals, paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Pono at the Philippine Embassy in Doha on 27 March 2023.
Led by team captain Neil Etheridge, the Azkals were in Qatar for a friendly against Jordan at the Saoud bin Abdulrahman Stadium.
