DOHA 26 June 2020 — The Philippine Embassy in Doha repatriated a total of 318 overseas Filipinos, including an infant, via a chartered flight of the Philippine Airlines (PAL) on 24 June 2020.
The chartered flight included 20 pregnant women and 22 female wards who have sought temporary shelter at the Embassy/Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO)’s Migrant Workers and other Overseas Filipinos Resource Center (MWOFRC) prior to their repatriation.
The Embassy/POLO officials and personnel were at the airport to see off and assist the repatriates with airport and airline authorities during their check-in, considering that most passengers in this repatriation flight have either expired and/or cancelled Residence Permits and Entry Visas.
The mounting of the chartered flight, despite Qatar’s inbound travel restrictions, was a result of close coordination between the Embassy/POLO and relevant authorities in Qatar, such as the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, the Hamad International Airport and Qatar Airways.
The chartered flight would not have been made possible without the invaluable support from the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and other entities, including PAL.
The Embassy and POLO continue to stand ready to provide appropriate assistance to those who wish to be repatriated. END

DOHA 27 May 2020 – The Philippine Embassy in Doha and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Qatar (POLO-Qatar) collaborated with the Qatar authorities in distributing Zakat gifts to the Filipino Community on the occasion of Eidal-Fitr.
The Zakat gifts, which come in the form of 4,000 food parcels, were donated by the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (MADLSA), the Ministry of Interior (MOI), and Qatar Charity to the Philippine Embassy and POLO-Qatar on 22 May 2020 at Migrant Filipino Workers and Other Filipinos Resource Center (MWOFRC), for onward distribution to overseas Filipinos adversely affected by work disruptions caused by the COVID-19 global pandemic.
The Philippine Embassy and POLO-Qatar officials expressed gratitude for the gesture of the Qatari government.
The MADLSA, the MOI, and the Qatar Charity also directly coordinated with Filipino community organizations and gave them another 5,000 food parcels to be distributed to the Filipinos.
Since the start of the Philippine Embassy and POLO-Qatar’s food assistance program in April 2020, some 9,000 requests have been registered, of which 7,000 individuals have already benefitted–including from donations by Qatar. END
