DOHA 22 July 2024 — Her Excellency Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar Lillibeth V. Pono attended the 17th General Assembly and induction of the new set of officers of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants Doha LLC (PICPA Doha) on 19 July 2024.
During the event, which bore the theme “17th Year: Advancing Excellence, Empowering Professionals – Where Expertise Meets Impact,” Ambassador Pono lauded PICPA’s endurance as a professional group.
“The theme for this year’s event reflects what I believe have been key to PICPA Doha’s endurance as an organization: excellence, professionalism, and the lasting impact of the work you have undertaken for the benefit of your colleagues and the community at large,” she said.
A Certified Public Accountant herself, Ambassador Pono also underscored the importance of transparency, accountability and trust, discipline, responsibility, and having an eye for detail as integral to achieving success in the field.
“I trust that these principles and values will continue to guide Filipino CPAs in the exercise of their profession, whether as accountants, auditors, bankers, managers, CFOs, CEOs, COOs, or consultants,” she said.

DOHA 16 July 2024 — Her Excellency Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar Lillibeth Pono and His Excellency Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and Knight Grand Officer Ferdinand Alfonso Ver graced the chartering and knighting of the Doha Chapter of the Knights of Rizal (KOR) and the chartering of Damas de Rizal.
The solemn and elaborate ceremonies were held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Doha on 13 July 2024.
Ambassador Pono officiated the induction of the officers of KOR Doha Chapter, led by Chapter Commander Dr. Elvin Fajutagana, and the Damas, led by Dr. Analiza Binondo.
In her remarks, the Ambassador underscored the relevance of the values of knighthood now more than ever. She added that similar to Dr. José Rizal, all Filipinos should commit to the glory of the Philippines and inspire future generations to do the same.
In highlighting the role of women in nation-building, Ambassador Pono said that Las Damas de Rizal continues to prove that Rizal’s values and principles transcend gender.
Jose P. Villanueva, KOR Area Commander for Oman, UAE, and Qatar, and Elpidio Quitevis, Regional Commander for Middle East and Africa, presided over the ceremonies.
