DOHA 23 May 2024 — The ASEAN Committee in Doha (ACD) hosted a farewell dinner for outgoing Vietnamese Ambassador, His Excellency Tran Duc Hung, on 22 May 2024.
Members of the ACD, including Her Excellency Philippine Ambassador Lillibeth V. Pono, congratulated Ambassador Tran for his successful tour of duty and wished him all the best in his future assignments.
Composed of Heads of Posts of the diplomatic missions of ASEAN Member States in the State of Qatar, the ACD undertakes various activities to promote ASEAN interests in Qatar.

DOHA 23 May 2024 — The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines congratulates the 60 Filipinos belonging to the University of Doha for Science and Technology’s (UDST) Class of 2024 who graduated on 22 May 2024.
“We congratulate our fellow kabayan who have successfully hurdled the academic rigors of college at UDST,” Her Excellency Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar Lillibeth V. Pono said. “We are proud of their accomplishments and we wish them all the best in their future endeavors.”

DOHA 22 May 2024 — In memory of the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Her Excellency Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar Lillibeth V. Pono signed the condolence book at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran on 22 May 2024.
“Our thoughts are with the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” she said. “We wish them comfort and courage to withstand the severity of their loss.”

DOHA 19 May 2024 — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual led a delegation of Philippine officials in a meeting with leading district cooling company Qatar Cool on the sidelines of the 4th Qatar Economic Forum on 16 May 2024.
The company also facilitated a visit to one of its cooling plants with a view to bringing the company’s environmentally sustainable district cooling technology to the Philippines.
“We thank Qatar Cool for your continued interest in the Philippines,” Secretary Pascual said. “We recognize the importance of energy-efficient projects in achieving our sustainability goals and, therefore, we are committed to supporting such initiatives through our enabling policies.”
Now on its fourth iteration, the Qatar Economic Forum serves as a platform for government officials, business leaders, and policy innovators from Qatar and other parts of the world to discuss opportunities and challenges in the global economic landscape.
At a panel held the day prior, Secretary Pascual zoomed in on the Philippine government’s flagship infrastructure projects, legal and policy reforms, improved market access, and development of a skilled workforce as among the factors that enable the robust growth of the Philippine economy.
