ANNOUNCEMENTS
05 December 2024 — The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in the State of Qatar organized a dialogue with close to 200 members of the Filipino diaspora in an event dubbed “Filipinas Ultramar” at Abesq Doha Hotel and Residences on 29 November 2024.
An inter-agency undertaking, “Filipinas Ultramar” is conceived as a forum to strengthen the collective identity of Filipino diaspora communities across the world.
In her opening remarks, Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar, Her Excellency Lillibeth V. Pono, said, “As we launch Filipinas Ultramar, we reflect on how we can collaborate, support, and empower each other, and be active partners to contribute to the progress of the Philippines.”
During the event, Third Secretary and Vice Consul Jeffrey D. Batac provided an overview of the “Bagong Pilipinas” movement, while Third Secretary and Vice Consul Monica Remsy S. Calañgian discussed the history and policy imperatives behind “Filipinas Ultramar.”
The event concluded with an articulation of key commitments concerning enhanced socio-cultural engagement between and among members of the Filipino diaspora to promote solidarity, strengthen national identity, and ensure the collective well-being of the community.

04 December 2024 — Members of the Philippine delegation bagged honors at the 2024 World Mathematics Team Championship (WMTC) held in Doha, State of Qatar on 28 November to 01 December 2024.
Composed of two teams, the Philippine delegation earned 11 individual awards, including 3 Gold, 3 Silver, 4 Bronze, and 1 Merit award. The Top Award in the Intermediate Category Team Competition also went to a Philippine team.
The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines, represented by Consul General and First Secretary Cassandra B. Sawadjaan, joined the young Filipino mathematicians during the awarding rites.
Carrying the theme, “Algebra and Balancing,” this year's edition of the WMTC paid tribute to Islamic scholar Al-Khwarizmi, emphasizing the principles of balance and fairness in solving equations.
The event drew a total of 800 math students, including 443 international participants. It challenged them to solve complex problems through individual, relay, and team-based rounds while fostering international camaraderie and collaboration.

DOHA 02 December 2024 — Her Excellency Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar Lillibeth V. Pono delivered a special lecture on Philippine foreign policy and her career as a Filipino diplomat before a class of undergraduate international affairs students at the Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) on 01 December 2024.
Ambassador Pono’s special lecture was upon the invitation of Georgetown Professor and renowned international affairs expert Dr. Mehran Kamrava.
During her lecture, Ambassador Pono provided an overview of the three pillars of Philippine foreign policy, Manila’s positions on issues of international concern, and the challenges and opportunities that come with having a career in diplomacy.

DOHA 30 November 2024 — The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Doha joins Filipinos in Qatar and across the world in commemorating the 161st birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio.
As a catalyst for Philippine independence, Andres Bonifacio co-founded the Kataas-taasan, Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan (KKK) in 1892. It was through the KKK's initiative that the Philippine Revolution began, leading to the Philippines' independence from Spain in 1898.
