ANNOUNCEMENTS
DOHA 8 August 2023 – The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, was founded on this day 56 years ago to promote the economic, social, and cultural development of the region through cooperative programs, to safeguard the political and economic stability of the region, and to serve as a forum for the resolution of intra-regional differences.
To commemorate the establishment of ASEAN and underscore its significance, Proclamation No. 282 (series of 2017) declares the month of August of every year as “ASEAN Month.”
In Qatar, the resident diplomatic missions of ASEAN Member States make up the ASEAN Committee in Doha (ACD). Currently chaired by the Philippine Embassy, the ACD promotes and heightens awareness of the ASEAN in Qatar.
