DOHA 25 April 2024 – To commemorate Filipino Food Month in April, the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Doha is showcasing the variety of restaurants and eateries offering Filipino cuisine in Qatar.
As part of this commemoration, we will introduce the first Embassy-organized walking food tour – a one-and-a-half-hour experience strolling through the bustling streets of Doha, where participants can embark on a culinary journey that transports them to the picturesque Philippine archipelago.
For its inaugural edition, the Embassy will visit select Filipino restaurants in Al Sadd. Join us as we explore these participating restaurants and indulge in the diverse flavors of Filipino gastronomy!

DOHA 24 April 2024 — Members of the Philippine delegation to the 5th Full Meeting of the Standing International Forum of Commercial Courts (SIFoCC) visited the new chancery of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in the State of Qatar on 18 April 2024.
Composed of three (3) Filipino commercial court judges and four (4) lawyers from the Supreme Court of the Philippines, the delegation was met by Chargé d’Affaires Cassandra B. Sawadjaan along with other officials of the Embassy and the Migrant Workers Office.
This year’s SIFoCC Full Meeting took place in Doha on 20-21 April 2024. It drew in delegations from over 50 jurisdictions who took part in exchanging views, best practices, and innovations to enhance commercial dispute resolution procedures.

MANILA 22 April 2024 – His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, concluded his historic State Visit to the Philippines as he departed from the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City on 22 April 2024.
This is the first visit of a current Amir to the country since 2012 geared towards strengthening the already robust ties between the Philippines and Qatar.
In their meeting at the Malacañan Palace, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and His Highness the Amir reaffirmed their nations’ unyielding commitment to intensify the 43 years of friendship and cooperation.
The productive and fruitful discussions also deepened collaboration in various fields of interest anchored in opening more opportunities to improve bilateral relations at all levels.
Serving as the highlight of the visit is the nine (9) signed agreements between the Governments of the Philippines and Qatar. These focused on several mutual interests such as labor, climate change action, trade and investments, sports and education, tourism and seafarers’ welfare, among others.

MANILA 21 April 2024 – The Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, lauded on Monday the Filipino community in the Arab nation for its contribution to the progress of his country.
“This is my pleasure to take this opportunity to praise the Filipino community residing in the State of Qatar and their effective contribution to the development, progress in our country,” Sheikh Tamim told President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during their bilateral meeting at Malacañan Palace in Manila on Monday.
Qatar is second home to over 270,000 Filipinos.
In 2022, remittances to the Philippines from Qatar amounted to USD 895.33 million.
Formal relations between the two countries span 43 years following formal establishment on 05 May 1981.
President Marcos and his Cabinet officials welcomed Sheikh Tamim.
Sheikh Tamim and President Marcos witnessed the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding that will further strengthen the relations between the Philippines and Qatar and increase their communication.
“The Philippines is an important partner for us in many fields and especially in trade, economic cooperation. And we aspired to improve these relations to increase communication between the private sector in both the countries,” the Amir said.
“I thank you once again, Your Excellency, and I wish your country, the Philippines continued progress and prosperity,” the Qatari Amir told President Marcos.
President Marcos said his discussion with Sheikh Tamim will translate into stronger collaboration in common fields of interest.
“I look forward to a fruitful and productive meeting with you today, with the hope that our discussion will open opportunities to improve and strengthen our bilateral relations at every level. At the commercial level, at the government-to-government level, at the people-to-people level,” President Marcos said during their meeting.
“This is our aspiration and I think that if we come to – if we agreed that this is the way to go, there is much potential that we can take advantage of,” President Marcos added. (Philippine News Agency)
