DOHA 01 September 2024 – The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in the State of Qatar joins in the national celebration of the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month in September 2024.
This year’s celebration carries the theme, “Pamana ng Karagatan: Para sa Kinabukasan, Ating Ingatan.”
The Philippines is a maritime and archipelagic country composed of more than 7,000 islands with more than 14,000 coastal communities highly dependent on marine resources for living. As a maritime nation, it is imperative for every Filipino to carry out initiatives and be informed on how to protect the country's maritime interests and resources from various maritime threats. To attain this, the government issued Proclamation No. 316, s. 2017, declaring the month of September of every year as the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo).
MANA Mo is a platform that synchronizes the celebration of all maritime-related events and activities in a single month to achieve a sense of unity and pride among Filipinos in addressing the threats to the coastal and marine environment toward preserving the Philippine maritime heritage.
