DOHA 09 October 2024 — The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in the State of Qatar took part in the vibrant festivities marking the 32nd founding anniversary of Philippine School Doha (PSD) on 04 October 2024.
In her remarks during the event, Her Excellency Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar Lillibeth V. Pono congratulated PSD for continuing to plant the seeds of excellence in Qatar-based Filipino youth for more than three decades now.
“More than three decades since its establishment, PSD remains a key pillar of the broader Filipino community in Qatar,” she said. “Its current crop of students, faculty members, administrators, and staff are proud bearers of the school’s storied past, continuing to weave the unique narrative of Filipinos on this side of the world.”
Ambassador Pono also lauded the school’s commitment in producing Filipino learners who are not only accustomed to the rigors of learning, but also possess a strong desire to contribute to Philippine nation-building.
“Sinasalamin ng mahigit tatlumpu’t-taong kasaysayan ng PSD ang mga adhikain, paninindigan, at pangarap ng mga libu-libong estudyanteng Pilipino na nagsipagtapos mula sa paaralan na ito,” she said. "Naging katuwang din ng mga OFW dito sa Qatar ang PSD sa paghubog ng kaisipan at kaalaman ng kanilang mga anak ukol sa kamalayang Pilipino.”
Attended by PSD faculty and staff, members of the Board of Trustees, students, and parents, the commemorative event featured student performances showcasing Philippine festivals, including Panagbenga, Masskara and Bailes de Luces.
