29 August 2017 DOHA — The Philippine Embassy in Doha, in cooperation with Katara Cultural Village Foundation, launched the photography exhibition "Qatar through Filipino Lenses" at the Katara Gallery 2 on August 17 featuring Qatari landmarks, architecture, nature and people of Qatar as seen through the lenses of Filipino photographers. The event was participated in by the different Filipino photography clubs registered with the Embassy which include both professionals and enthusiasts.
The exhibit opening was attended by officials of the Katara International Affairs Department, members of the diplomatic corps, members of the media and photography enthusiasts in Qatar. The photographs earned praises for showcasing the astounding beauty of Qatar as seen from the blending of the old and the new, progress and history which define Qatar's development as a country and as a society.
Speaking at the event, Philippine Ambassador Alan Timbayan thanked Katara for its support in promoting cultural exchanges between Philippines and Qatar and expressed keen interest in pursuing ares of cultural cooperation in the future under the ambit of our newly-signed Culture Cooperation Agreement with Qatar.
In the past, Katara has also hosted the performance tour of Ballet Philippines and ASEAN Festival in 2015, and film screenings of Heneral Luna and Bamboo Flowers in 2016.

13 August 2017 - In celebration of the Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa (Philippine Language Month), the Philippine Embassy in Doha launched the Pagtatanghal ng mga Likhang Sining, at the Philippine Embassy on August 11.
The art exhibition features works of art by the Alliance of Filipino Artists in Qatar, and students from the Philippine School Doha (PSD) and Philippine International School Qatar (PISQ) and will run from August 11 to 31.
The project aims to promote local Filipino artists in Qatar and to showcase their works and talents to a wider audience under the ambit of the recently signed Cultural Cooperation Agreement between the Philippines and Qatar as part of the Embassy's initiative to sustain cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Pursuant to the Presidential Decree Number 1041 of 1997, the Buwan ng Wika is celebrated in the Philippines every month of August in order to promote the FIlipino language awareness. This year's theme, “Filipino: Wikang Mapagbago” aims not only to instill the love for the national language but also to commemorate the Filipino people's struggle for freedom and national identity. 11 July 2017 DOHA — The Philippine Embassy in Doha hosted a diplomatic reception in celebration of the 119th Anniversary of the declaration of Philippine Independence at the City Centre Rotana Hotel on July 9.
The reception was attended by 200 guests from the diplomatic corps, government officials, business community, academe, and the Filipino community.
His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Bin Adbulwahid Al Hamadi, the Qatar Minister of Education and Higher Education, attended the event as the Guest of Honor. Philippine Ambassador Alan L. Timbayan, highlighted the strong bilateral relations between the Philippines and Qatar which was reaffirmed by the recent visit of President Rodrigo Duterte to Qatar.
The Maharlikans Vocal Ensemble Philippines, a Filipino community group in Doha, led the a capella singing of the national anthems of Qatar and Philippines and serenaded guests with OPM and folk songs. Another local group, the Kaloob Dance Ministry, rendered a performance of the La Jota Moncadeña accompanied by bamboo castanets.

The officials and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Doha join the Filipino community in Qatar in the flag raising ceremony at the embassy grounds.
04 July 2017 DOHA — The Philippine Embassy in Doha led the three-day celebration of the 119th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine independence during the Eid’l Fitr holidays from June 25-27. The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the Philippine flag followed by the traditional almusal ng bayan at the embassy grounds.
Ambassador Alan L. Timbayan led the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the City Centre Rotana Hotel which was followed by a parade participated in by the different organizations and the different regional festivals in the Philippines.
Ambassador Timbayan highlighted that the theme: Pagbabagong Sama-Samang Balikatin, embodies President Duterte’s commitment to uplift the life and dignity of Filipinos by implementing reforms which will ensure the safety of the public and improve public services.
The annual festivities featured not only cultural presentations and traditional music and dances, but also hosted various meetings, different social and government services and a medical mission. Different Filipino restaurants in Qatar and other non-food exhibitors offered Filipino dishes and various products and services for the public
The event concluded with the Gawad Parangal Para sa Natatanging Overseas Pinoy which aimed to recognize the exceptional performance and contribution of Filipinos in different fields such as Education, Medicine, Engineering, Journalism and Social work.
