DOHA 25 March 2023 – The Philippine Embassy in Qatar organized a virtual commemorative switch-off event in observance of Earth Hour on 25 March 2023.
The event saw embassy personnel, as well as officials from the Migrant Workers Office and members of the Filipino community in Doha, simultaneously switch off non-essential lights and appliances in their homes from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. as a display of solidarity with the global call for urgent and sweeping reforms in climate-related policies and the institutionalization of climate justice, especially for vulnerable populations.
In her opening remarks, Ambassador Lillibeth V. Pono called on the general public’s renewal of their commitment to the planet.

The event also featured the short video, “Wild Wonders: Celebrating the Beauty of Philippine Protected Areas.” Produced by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the video puts a spotlight on legally designated Protected Areas renowned for their rich biodiversity.
