DOHA 27 May 2024 — Third Secretaries and Vice Consuls Monica Remsy S. Calañgian and Jeffrey D. Batac took part in the 31st commencement exercises of Philippine School Doha (PSD) on 24-25 May 2024.
The event carried the theme, “Filipino Youth for a Stronger Future of the New Philippines.”
In his message during the convocation ceremony for Grade 10 students on 24 May 2024, Vice Consul Batac underscored the importance of equipping students with the necessary know-how to allow them to “hold their own in the global knowledge economy and contribute to the growth of the Philippines in the Fourth, and even the Fifth, Industrial Revolution.”
Meanwhile, during the commencement exercises for Grade 12 graduates on 25 May 2024, Vice Consul Calañgian wished the graduating senior high school students the best of luck as they pursue their collegiate degrees and encouraged them to contribute to nation-building.

DOHA 28 May 2024 — The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Doha joins the Filipino community in celebrating National Flag Day, an annual event held to commemorate the first unfurling of the Philippine Flag on Philippine soil during the Battle of Alapan in Imus, Cavite on 28 May 1898.
The declaration of 28 May of each year as National Flag Day was made through Proclamation No. 374 in 1965, which mandates the display of the National Flag on national holidays, or special holidays as the President may proclaim not only in all public buildings, official residences, public squares, and schools but whenever practicable, in all private buildings and homes, from sunrise to sunset.
In 1994, then President Fidel V. Ramos issued Executive Order No. 179, which mandates the display of the National Flag from 28 May to 12 June of every year, in all public buildings, government institutions and official residences.

DOHA 23 May 2024 — The ASEAN Committee in Doha (ACD) hosted a farewell dinner for outgoing Vietnamese Ambassador, His Excellency Tran Duc Hung, on 22 May 2024.
Members of the ACD, including Her Excellency Philippine Ambassador Lillibeth V. Pono, congratulated Ambassador Tran for his successful tour of duty and wished him all the best in his future assignments.
Composed of Heads of Posts of the diplomatic missions of ASEAN Member States in the State of Qatar, the ACD undertakes various activities to promote ASEAN interests in Qatar.

DOHA 23 May 2024 — The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines congratulates the 60 Filipinos belonging to the University of Doha for Science and Technology’s (UDST) Class of 2024 who graduated on 22 May 2024.
“We congratulate our fellow kabayan who have successfully hurdled the academic rigors of college at UDST,” Her Excellency Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar Lillibeth V. Pono said. “We are proud of their accomplishments and we wish them all the best in their future endeavors.”
