DOHA 31 March 2024 — The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in the State of Qatar and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas co-organized an online briefing on Personal Equity and Retirement Account (PERA) on 22 March 2024.
Held via Zoom and streamed live on Facebook, the event was participated in by over 350 Filipinos from Qatar and other parts of the world.
It was the first such briefing to be held for overseas Filipinos in the Middle East.
In her welcome remarks, Her Excellency Ambassador Lillibeth V. Pono welcomed the conduct of the briefing on PERA.
“It is with great privilege and joy to be part of this pioneering activity,” she said. “I hope that this briefing will, in many ways, be helpful and informative for all of us who are serious about making sure that we will enjoy a secure life after retirement.”
Instituted by virtue of Republic Act No. 9505, otherwise known as the PERA Act of 2008, PERA is a voluntary investment retirement account for Filipinos in the Philippines and abroad. It is designed to assist individuals in saving up for their retirement through various investment options while enjoying tax incentives.
