IHL Month 2023.png
DOHA 1 August 2023 — The Philippine Embassy in the State of Qatar joins in the celebration of the International Humanitarian Law Month 2023.

The Philippines subscribes to the basic principle of disinterested humanitarian aid to all victims of war and armed conflict without discrimination. As such, the country is a Contracting Party to the Four Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949, namely: (1) Geneva Convention for the Amelioration of the Condition of the Wounded and Sick in Armed Forces in the Field; (2) Geneva Convention for the Amelioration of the Condition of the Wounded, Sick and Shipwrecked Members of Armed Forces at Sea; (3) Geneva Convention Relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War; and (4) Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, and Protocol Additional to the Geneva Conventions and Relating to the Protection of Victims of Non-International Armed Conflicts.

This year’s theme: “IHL:Gabay sa Makataong Pagsulong ng Kapayapaan” (IHL: Guide to Humanitarian Advancement of Peace), emphasizes the ongoing and vital role of IHL in fostering peace and safeguarding the rights and dignity of individuals affected by armed conflict.
