DOHA, 14 August 2019 — A financial literacy seminar entitled: “Usaping Pera, Pagpaplano ng Kita” (Money Talks, Revenue Planning) was held on 16 July 2019 for around 126 returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) housed at the Embassy’s Migrant Workers and Other Filipinos Resource Center.
Organized by the Philippine Embassy in Doha, the seminar impressed upon the importance of financial planning in managing resources, and taught practical ways and methods on how to achieve financial security.
In his remarks, Ambassador to Qatar Alan L. Timbayan told participants that the seminar is one way to help promote equal opportunities for women through knowledge-empowerment. He encouraged participants to share their acquired knowledge with their families back home because “financially stable families are a foundation of a progressive Philippines”.
The seminar, which forms part of the Embassy’s Gender and Development activities for the year, was conducted in collaboration with the Office of Social Welfare Attaché, and the Overseas Filipino Investors Entrepreneurs Movement, which provided volunteer resource persons. END
