DOHA 17 April 2019 – As a culminating activity for Women’s Month, the Philippine Embassy in Doha held a Forum on Maximizing Women Potential at St. Regis in Doha, Qatar on 30 March 2019.
The Forum focused on gender empowerment through lectures given by Embassy Welfare Officer Evelyn C. Laranang on financial management and by Rumaillah Hospital Executive Director of Nursing Mariam Nooh Al Mutawa on psychological wellness.
Ambassador to Qatar Alan L. Timbayan informed the audience how the Philippines has been vigorous in its campaign to promote equal opportunities for women at the national and international levels.
He cited the recent Global Gender Gap Report of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in December 2018 that saw the Philippines as one of the most gender equal countries in the world by placing eighth out of 149 countries surveyed.
“The Philippines believes in the role of its women citizens and how they greatly contribute to the morals of society and nation-building. We honor them today through this Forum,” Ambassador Timbayan added.
The Forum was attended by Philippine Embassy in Qatar staff and officials, and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office, and members of the Filipino community in Qatar. END
