PHL regional food booths featuring traditional cuisines from various regions such as central Luzon (kapampangan and tagalog dishes), western Visayas (chicken inasal, batikolon, lapaz bathoy, pancit molo) and southern Mindanao (tiyula itum, putli mandi, kiyuning chichen rice, baulu).

 

12 December 2017 DOHA — The Philippine Embassy, together with local community partners, recently held the Kulinarya Qatar Philippine Regional Food Festival at the Asia Town Activity Center in Industrial Area in Doha on December 08.

The one-day community event featured tradional Philippine regional food booths and exhibits, Filipino cultural and tourism shows, traditional performances, Sagala parade and wellness activities. The food booths featured the traditional cuisines and dishes from various regions in the Philippines, such as central Luzon (kapampangan and tagalog dishes), western Visayas (chicken inasalbatikolonlapaz bathoypancit molo) and southern Mindanao (tiyula itumputli mandikiyuning chicken ricebaulu).   

During the opening of the regional festival, Charge d’ Affaires Roussel R. Reyes in his welcome remarks said, “the regional food festival organized by Kulinarya aims to promote Philippine culture and cuisine. It allows us to showcase Filipino food - which is a major component of our culture.”

Mobile overseas voting registration and consular services inquiries were provided to the community during the festival. More than 60 applicants successfully registered under the different categories of voters’ registration. 

This activity is part of the Kulinarya Qatar program of the Embassy which is part of its economic and cultural diplomacy initiatives that highlights Philippine cuisine and culture in promoting the Philippines as a preferred tourism and business destination. Upcoming projects and activities include the Filipino street food festival, participating in the Qatar Tourism Authority - Qatar International Food Festival and visiting celebrity chefs and culinary professionals from the Philippines.
