29 August 2017 DOHA — The Philippine Embassy in Doha, in cooperation with Katara Cultural Village Foundation, launched the photography exhibition "Qatar through Filipino Lenses" at the Katara Gallery 2 on August 17 featuring Qatari landmarks, architecture, nature and people of Qatar as seen through the lenses of Filipino photographers. The event was participated in by the different Filipino photography clubs registered with the Embassy which include both professionals and enthusiasts.

The exhibit opening was attended by officials of the Katara International Affairs Department, members of the diplomatic corps, members of the media and photography enthusiasts in Qatar. The photographs earned praises for showcasing the astounding beauty of Qatar as seen from the blending of the old and the new, progress and history which define Qatar's development as a country and as a society.

Speaking at the event, Philippine Ambassador Alan Timbayan thanked Katara for its support in promoting cultural exchanges between Philippines and Qatar and expressed keen interest in pursuing ares of cultural cooperation in the future under the ambit of our newly-signed Culture Cooperation Agreement with Qatar.

In the past, Katara has also hosted the performance tour of Ballet Philippines and ASEAN Festival in 2015, and film screenings of Heneral Luna and Bamboo Flowers in 2016.
