30 January 2017 – Department of Health Secretary Paulyn Jean B. Rosell-Ubial and Qatar’s Minister of Public Health Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari expressed their commitment to provide accessible and efficient universal healthcare for their respective citizens during the courtesy call of Secretary Ubial on Minister Al Kuwari at the Qatar Ministry of Public Health headquarters on January 23. Secretary Ubial thanked her counterpart for the career opportunities that Qatar has provided to Filipino doctors and medical professionals. Secretary Ubial informed the Minister of the proposed opening of a polyclinic and a full-capacity hospital in Qatar which aims to extend affordable medical service to Filipinos and other nationalities in Qatar. The Secrectary sought the assistance of the Minister in addressing several challenges that affect the accreditation of Filipino medical professionals in Qatar. Minister Al Kuwari welcomed the Embassy's initiative and expressed her support for greater collaboration between the Philippine Embassy in Qatar and the Ministry of Public Health. Both countries are gearing up for the signing of the PH-Qatar M.O.U. on Cooperation in the Field of Health.
