As the current ASEAN Chair, the Philippines aims to highlight ASEAN as a model of regionalism while maintaining the ASEAN’s centrality.
As the current ACD Chair, Ambassador Santos will be organizing various activities to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN in 2017 which will include a joint ACD hosting of a diplomatic reception to celebrate this special milestone in ASEAN.
Under the Philippine Chairmanship, Ambassador Santos also plans on increasing ACD's engagements with the academe and exploring possible cooperation and exchanges with the different universities in Qatar, in addition to pursuing already established cultural linkages and exchanges with Qatar.
With the focus of Qatar shifting from Europe to Asia, the ACD plans to highlight ASEAN as the ideal business and investment destination as we continue to pursue initiatives and enhance cooperation with global partners in line with achieving the desired concrete outcomes of the ASEAN Community Vision 2025.
