08 June 2015 – Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Wilfredo C. Santos, together with Mr. Alex Reyes, Cebu Pacific’s General Manager for Long Haul Division, and Mr. Abdulaziz Abdulla Al-Mass, Hamad International Airport’s Vice President for Commercial, launched the maiden flight of Cebu Pacific’s non-stop Doha-Manila flight last 05 June, which departed at 4:15 AM.
Included among the passengers are thirty-one (31) distressed Filipinos under the temporary care of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO). Cebu Pacific sponsored 100 tickets for distressed Filipinos for repatriation to the Philippines. The Embassy and POLO are hoping to offer the remaining tickets to other distressed Filipinos in Qatar within this month.
Ambassador Santos thanked Cebu Pacific for its generosity in helping bring our kababayans back to the Philippines to be finally reunited with their loved-ones. “Congratulations to Cebu Pacific for becoming the first Philippine carrier and low-cost carrier to have direct flights to Qatar. This is something that will truly benefit the estimated 200,000 Filipinos in Qatar,” he added.
Cebu Pacific has twice weekly non-stop flights between Manila and Doha. END
