DOHA 22 June 2025 — The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in the State of Qatar,  in collaboration with the Knights of Rizal and Las Damas de Rizal Doha Chapter, celebrated the 164th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal, the Philippine’s national hero, at the Embassy Chancery on 19 June 2025.

Led by Ambassador Mardomel Celo D. Melicor, the celebration involved a wreath laying ceremony while the Filipino folk song, “Sampaguita” was being played by NAMCYA prize winner for violin Willie Munar.


In his keynote message, Ambassador Melicor encouraged the audience to “reflect on the values our hero stood for — love of country, respect for fellow Filipinos, and the belief that through unity and collaboration, we can build a better nation for a stronger Philippines.”

“In these times, may Rizal’s life inspire us to work together as one community — setting aside differences, and embracing our diversity. In a time when division threatens progress, unity becomes our most powerful tool as a nation. Let us all carry Rizal’s torch forward by working hand in hand — helping each other rise, building stronger communities, and striving for a better future for all.”
