DOHA 31 August 2024 — The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in the State of Qatar welcomed our kababayan availing of consular services during the Embassy’s extended operating hours on 29 August 2024.
With the Embassy’s operations extended until 7:00 p.m., consular clients who were otherwise unable to visit the Embassy during regular office hours were able to file their applications for passport, notarization of documents, civil registry, and overseas voting registration.
The Embassy advises the Filipino community to watch out for the next extension of its operating hours to be announced on the Embassy’s official website and social media pages in due course.
On the same day, Consul General and First Secretary Cassandra B. Sawadjaan conveyed the Embassy’s congratulations to the Filipino community groups who organized the Arat Na, Pinas!, one of the many community-led initiatives to commemorate the Philippines’ 126th Independence Day.
In her remarks, Consul General Sawadjaan noted the Embassy’s appreciation to activities that highlight the richness and depth of Filipino culture and history in Qatar.
She also paid tribute to Filipino heroes whose selflessness gave occasion to the birth of one of Asia’s foremost Republics on 12 June 1898.
Meanwhile, on 30 August 2024, the Embassy took part in the third technical symposium of the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers-Qatar Chapter.
In her message, read by Administrative Officer Antonia B. Caba, Her Excellency Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar Lillibeth V. Pono said the symposium’s theme — “Prosperity through Sustainable and Innovative Practices” — underscores the reality of a world that is being “shaped and continually reshaped by innovation – a brave leap into the enormous possibilities brought about by departures from the norm and the usual.”
She also emphasized the Philippines’ broad agenda under the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 to spur research and development, technology, and innovation by strengthening basic R&D and knowledge creation, as well as enhancing the adoption, utilization, and commercialization of technology.
